Tiny Client’s Dollhouse
This 1:16 dollhouse was my first foray into miniature making. I worked with my close friends’ daughter, a creative 6 year old who I called my “Tiny Client” to create the dollhouse of her dreams. We began the process with a brainstorm where I sourced a bunch of requests, including a disco ball. I used the now-discontinued Miniature Funkis Doll House from ferm LIVING as a starting point, and then handcrafted everything from the mini hardwood floors to the pergola on the roof deck. I loved the process and I learned a ton.
The full dollhouse interior, featuring a pergola covered patio, living room, eat-in kitchen, bathroom, kids’ bedroom, parents’ bedroom and hot tub sundeck.
The sketch I created when starting the project, in collaboration with my Tiny Client (she colored it!). I deviated a bit, but for the most part stuck to it.
The big reveal went viral.
Currently standing at 2.1 million views, the moment when I unveiled the dollhouse went viral on Instagram.
I think it’s the squeal of joy.
