Bar Pinto

I created this miniature restaurant and bar for the minatures.com 31st Annual Creatin’ Contest and I’m honored that it was selected as a First Time Entrant Winner. I named it “Pinto” after my Boston Terrier/Pug mix and, of course, the bean.

I envision this space as a local’s favorite, where there’s always a wait and the menu changes seasonally—and even daily—based on what’s available at the farmer’s market.

It’s 1:12 scale and I made most of the items from scratch, aided by my Cricut and laser cutter.

My Inspiration

The San Francisco Bay Area is full of farm-to-table restaurants that celebrate the bounty of California. Seemingly unassuming spots—converted from old hardware stores and other spaces—serve some of the most delicious food and cocktails you’ll ever taste.

Pizzaiolo in North Oakland is one of these places, and its warmth, no-frills decor, and eclectic art collection directly inspired my miniature restaurant and bar.

Fun fact: my husband and I got married at Pizzaiolo in 2011, so in addition to having great food, it’s also a place filled with wonderful memories.
